Roofing on the Côte d’Azur
A roof in the Alpes-Maritimes has a harder life than most people assume. Long dry summers bake tiles and shrink timber, then autumn storms arrive off the Mediterranean and find every weak lap and every failed nail. Apex Azur has been putting those roofs right for more than 30 years, and Matt Cocozza has spent that career working on both traditional Provençal tiled roofs and modern flat roofing systems.
What We Do
- New roofs — designed and built for the property, from the structural timber up.
- Roof strip and re-tiling — the existing covering removed, the roof re-latted, a new breathable membrane fitted and the tiles laid properly.
- Roof refurbishment and repairs — targeted work where a full replacement is not warranted.
- Structural roof carpentry — rafters, purlins and wall plates replaced where rot or insect damage has taken hold.
- Flat roofing systems — terraces, garages and extensions, detailed correctly at the upstands and outlets.
How a Roof Job Runs
We survey the roof before we price it, including the roof space where we can get into it — that is where the real condition of the timber shows. You then get a fixed written quotation covering the materials, the work and a realistic programme. A typical domestic strip and re-tile runs from one to three weeks depending on size, timber condition and the weather.
If we open the roof up and find something the survey could not see, such as rotten rafters or a previous repair done badly, we stop, show you and agree the extra in writing before we carry on. You will not get a surprise on the final invoice.
Insulation, Gutters and the Rest of It
A re-roof is the one chance to deal with everything up there at once. We fit modern insulation, replace gutters and downpipes, remove disused chimneys and clean out the roof space while the covering is off. Doing it later means scaffolding a second time, which is why we quote for it up front and let you decide.
